Teen Menstruation

A girl in her teens goes through a lot of changes which are physical and emotional. She steps into womanhood and has to accept the changes that she goes through. She becomes more conscious of herself and its a difficult time for her and for parents as well.

Menstrual Cycle

Menstruation starts when a girl steps into her teens and the appropiate age is 13 years. When there is a change in hormones that are produced in the ovaries, that when a girls periods start. Girls should have a brief knowledge about how their bodies go through changes.
In this a month prior to when it starts the ovaries releases eggs and these eggs go through the fallopian tube and then to the uterus. Therefore before ovulation if the eggs fertilise with the sperms they get attached to the uterus wall and then develop into a foetus but then when the eggs don’t fertilise they are let out with the blood and tissues.This continues for every women until they reach the age of 50. After 50 they stop getting their periods and this is called menopause.

Every teen girl goes through irregular period for the first few years and then this becomes stable. Each ones body is different from the other so some may bleed more say for 6 to 7 days whereas the others may bleed less for 2 to 3 days but excess bleeding is not common and should be consulted with the doctor.

  • Lack of sleep

  • Loss of appetite

Side Effects

  • Getting cramps
  • Body aches

This is a time when a teen girl should take proper rest and have nutritious and well balanced diet as the body needs all the required energy to go through this phase.
